Participating in an independent study provides invaluable lab and research experience, and the opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to research in the lab. Receive guidance and constructive feedback from faculty members and share your work in a community with common interests听as you continue your graduate education. If you are as passionate about our work as we are, studying with us allows you space to explore topics that genuinely interest you, in an encouraging and rigorous environment.

How to Apply

Send an email to dellab@colorado.edu with the email title: master's student independent study application

In your email, please include the following materials:
  • CV
  • Transcript (both official and unofficial are acceptable)
  • 2-page research statement that includes the following information
    • Research question (& how it is related to our lab)
    • Proposed approach (& how it is related to our lab)
    • Your innovation (aka. what's new)
    • Your relevant past experience听
