FlexSpace Speaker Series: Building Community in Printmaking

Come join us to learn more about the art of lithographic printmaking. Artist Gregory Santos will discuss his Mixed Grit project and describe his work at Art Gym Denver. Lithographic stones and completed prints from Mixed Grit will be on view in FlexSpace. Described by Santos as a “is a unique format, semi-collaborative stone lithograph print trade,” Mixed Grit creates community with artists across the U.S.

Gregory Santos is an abstract artist and professional printer specializing in lithography and screen printing. In 2015 he relocated from NYC to Denver, CO., where his studio practice is based out of Art Gym Denver. Gregory is currently the Printmaking Director at Art Gym Denver and was the Chair of Mo'Print from 2016-2020. He completed the Printer Training Program at the Tamarind Institute for lithography and holds a Master of Arts degree from New York University as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in printmaking from Syracuse University.

Gregory created Mixed Grit in January 2019. Through this project he’s printed crayon stone lithographs for: Craig Zammiello, Ali Norman, Ash Armenta, Todd Herzberg, Jessi Hardesty, Annalise Gratovich, Reinaldo Gil Zambrano, Sage Perrott, Bryn Perrott, Tanja Softić, Rachel Shelton, and others. While Mixed Grit began from small beginnings, it has grown to reach thousands of people across the country as it begins to travel and be exhibited outside of its home in Colorado with it next being shown at the Mid America Print Council this October in Kent, Ohio.
