Call for applications to serve on the CU Art Museum Community Council

The CU Art Museum is looking for a volunteer Community Council (CC) member. The Committee is made up of representatives from the CU and the Boulder community and meets four times per academic year. The purpose of the CC is to help advance the Museum and its mission and strategic plan by providing advocacy, ambassadorship, community connections and guidance. Among the CC’s key activities are those geared towards increasing public awareness of the Museum, fostering community involvement with the Museum, as well as assisting in developing relationships with a wide variety of constituencies.

If you are unable to serve as a volunteer, we have a small source of funds to compensate you for your time.

Candidates should have an interest in supporting the museum and share the Museum’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, and they need not have a background in art history or museums.

Museum Mission

The University of Colorado Art Museum (Museum) provides a forum for exchanging ideas, inspiring collaboration and fueling imagination through art. The Museum’s growing collection and diverse exhibitions and public programs promote, inspire and generate interdisciplinary scholarship and cultural expression. The Museum mobilizes our strengths to support and enrich the academic and social missions of CU Boulder and to serve our communities in Boulder, statewide and beyond.

Background

The Community Council (CC) comprises between 10 and 20 supporters of the Museum who have demonstrated a serious interest in arts and education. Membership includes individuals in the CU and Boulder communities whose experience and knowledge would be of benefit to the Museum. CC supports the Museum and shares the Museum’s commitment to inclusion and accessibility.

Candidate profile:

Passionate about art across time periods and geographies. Dedication to higher education and a student-focused mission. Expertise in an area of the museum’s collections and/or a passion for learning about art and supporting the museum. Contributes to diversity as defined by the university.*
