Beyond Campus Buffs

Congratulations and welcome, first-year commuter and off-campus students!! We are proud to have you as members of our University of Colorado Boulder community. In Student Affairs, it is our pleasure to help you navigate the process both inside and outside of the classroom.

While CU Boulder is a traditional campus with many incoming students living in our residence halls, we want our first-year students who live off campus or commute to feel welcome and to be a strong, engaged group in our community. Whether your priorities are getting involved in clubs or , attending social events, staying fit, making friends with your peers or excelling at your academics, the opportunities are at your disposal at CU Boulder!

Our primary goal is to help you succeed while here as a student and thrive after graduation. To assist our first-year commuter and off-campus students with the transition to CU Boulder, we have dedicated services and resources.

First-year Beyond Campus Buffs

Each first-year student not living in the on-campus residence halls will be enrolled into the Beyond Campus Buffs first-year experience where they will be assigned to a cohort with other first-year commuter and off-campus students. Beyond Campus Buffs will receive a monthly newsletter and will be able to participate in ongoing programming opportunities with their assigned cohort and the larger off-campus and commuter student population. More information about assigned cohorts will be communicated mid-summer as well as instructions on how to access the Beyond Campus Buffs virtual community.

Other Beyond Campus Buffs

If you are a non-first year commuter, you can still join Beyond Campus Buffs. By opting into the program, you will continue to receive newsletters, information on events and resources, and access to the Commuter Lounge.

Beyond Campus Advisors

  • A Beyond Campus Advisor is an upper-division CU Boulder student who has previously or is currently commuting to campus and has a knowledge of navigating both campus and the surrounding area. Beyond Campus Advisors serve as student leaders, assisting first鈥恲ear commuter and off-campus students with their transition to the University of Colorado Boulder. This is accomplished through each advisor connecting with their assigned academic cohorts through a variety of interactions including group cohort meetings, one-on-one meetings, emails, text messages and social media, as well as through programming. Beyond Campus Advisors are responsible for providing on-going engagement opportunities for their assigned cohorts as well as conducting regular check-ins with each of their assigned cohort students.
