Spring 2024 Information
Students who have applied for graduation in either May听or August of 2024, their family, and guests are cordially invited to a ceremony honoring the May and August 2024听graduates of the Department of听Economics.听This听department听recognition ceremony听will be held in the听Macky Auditorium听on听Thursday, May 9听at 12:30 p.m.听()
Please听read this carefully for all relevant information any future updates for the department commencement ceremony will also appear here.听You may wish to bookmark this page for easy access.
Tickets听are not required for this event.听
No balloons allowed in Macky Auditorium.
Graduates:听please do not arrive any later than 12:10 p.m. 听Because this is an academic ceremony, academic听regalia is required and can be purchased in the University Book Store in the听weeks leading up to the event. The tassel is worn on the听RIGHT side of your cap听prior to walking across the stage. You will be instructed to move the tassel to听the left during the ceremony.听听
Doors听open at 11:30听a.m. for听guests.
Graduates听should arrive between 11:30听a.m. and 12:10 p.m.听Staff will assist during this time to help听graduates be seated in the correct area of the auditorium.听Please note:听there are stairs leading听up to the stage. If you are unable to climb stairs, please contact听Lily Welch听so that听an听alternate stage entrance can be arranged.
The ceremony will begin听promptly听at 12:30 p.m. The ceremony will last听approximately听1.5 hours and听it is expected that graduates remain for the duration听and that听family stay seated when possible.

Professional听photographs听will听be taken by听听before and after you walk across the stage.听There is a discount coupon for photographs for听.

What to expect when听you arrive at Macky:
1. Please听arrive 11:30 a.m.鈥�12:10 p.m.
2. There is no听area to keep purses or valuables, so please leave those with your guests prior听to entering the auditorium.听听
3. A table with staff members will be located on the grass directly across from the main entrance to Macky.听Please stop at the table to pick up and fill out a Reader Card prior to entering Macky. This card is what you will hand to the faculty card readers just before you walk across the stage. Be careful to write听legibly. If you have a difficult name听to pronounce, please phonetically spell听your name exactly how it sounds to assist the faculty card reader. Here is an听example of how to phonetically spell your name:听

ASL and captioning can be made available to guests with hearing impairments upon request. To ensure we can arrange for and effectively implement services, Macky requires a minimum of 7 day advanced notice prior to the event, which can be sent to听Lily Welch.听 We will make all reasonable efforts to secure requests submitted after this deadline, but cannot guarantee we will be able to do so.
