Admission

Admission is performance-based; no application required. Our promise to you—we will never ask you for transcripts, letters of recommendation, GRE or TOEFL scores. Demonstrate that you can master the courses by completing a series of for-credit courses in a “Pathway Specialization” and pass with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and not less than 2.0 in any individual course. This “B” average qualifies you to be admitted into the degree program. Once admitted, you are on your way to earning a graduate certificate and/or master's degree. Coursesand Specializations

  • Courses are often offered for fractional credits ranging from 0.6 credit hours to 1.2 credit hours.
  • Each specialization consists of about 3-4 courses which is equivalent to a regular 3-credit course on-campus.
  • Specializations cover specifictopics within theirfocus area (Embedded Systems, Power Electronics, Photonics and Optics, etc).
  • A "pathway" specialization is one that is designated for entry into either a certificate or the degree program.
  • Degree and certificate-seeking students must successfully complete one "pathway" specialization.
  • Graduate certificatestudents must complete a series of designated specializations to earn the certificate.
  • You can earn graduate academic credit for each individual course in the curriculum.

Sessions

  • There are 6 sessions total per year.
  • Each session is 8 weeks long.
  • The session enrollment period starts 2 weeks before the first day content is available.
  • The session enrollment period ends 2 weeks before all coursework is due.
  • All for-credit coursework is due before the last day of each session.
  • While work can be done at your own pace within the session, the for-credit session end date is absolute.

  • Each course in the MS-EE can be previewed or taken as a non-credit Coursera class.
  • You do not pay CU tuition when previewing a class, but may need to pay fees to Coursera for access to a full range of content.

If you are unsure whether you have the background to succeed,we encourage students to enroll in the non-credit course first. This will allow you to test your abilities and practice the skills required to pass the course and all assessments once you upgrade to a for-credit experience.

Tuition is due at the time of enrollment. Enroll in a course and pay tuition ($667 per credit hour). You will receive a confirmation message within an hour when your enrollment has been processed. Below are the payment options:

Pay with U.S. Dollars (USD)

  1. eCheck – U.S. checking or savings account (no fee). ECheck is a direct bank transfer from a traditional checking or savings account in the United States. There are no fees associated with this payment method.
  2. Credit or debit card (2.85% fee) — AMEX, Discover, Mastercard, Visa. Pay with a credit or debit card in US dollars. We accept American Express, Discover, Mastercard orVisa. Nelnet Campus Commerce charges a nonrefundable 2.85% service fee for each transaction using this payment method.

Pay with another currency

  1. International wire transfer or international credit card — Send your local currency from outside the U.S. (fees vary by country). We have partnered with Flywire to accept payments in local currencies from outside the United States. Pay securely in your or your employer's country's currency, using local payment methods. Please note that paying with Flywire is a multi-step process. You will be enrolled in the course once you have completed all payment steps. Assignmentand exam dates will not be adjusted for delaysin payment and enrollment.

Each student may drop a class if they are within 14 days from the class start date or their enrollment date (whichever is later).

To receive a full refund, two requirements must be met: each student must submit a drop request within 14 days from the class start date or their enrollment date, whichever is later; and they must not have accessed restricted content in the course. A refund will be returned to their credit card in 7-10 business days. When a course is dropped under these conditions, it will not appear on the student’s record.

Courses must be graduate level and meet all applicable academic standards and may not be double counted toward two credentials of the same level.

  • Courses may not be double-counted toward two credentials of the same level. This means students can apply credit from a particular course toward one graduate certificate and one graduate degree, but they cannot apply credit from a particular course toward two graduate certificates or two graduate degrees.
  • Students may not double count courses between multiple certificates.
  • Students wishing to complete degrees in more than one program must complete all the requirements for both degrees with no shared or overlapping course work.
