Teresa Wilkins, curator of the CU-Boulder traveling exhibit “Beyond the Loom: Keys to Understanding Early Southwestern Textiles,” will discuss the exhibit on July 31, now on display in Grand Junction. The presentation begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Museum of Western Colorado, located at 248 S. Fourth Street. Admission is $2.

The office of Disability Services at the University of Colorado at Boulder has received a $5,000 grant from the Anschutz Foundation for the Career Program for Students with Disabilities. The Career Program was organized through a cooperative effort between CU-Boulder Disability Services and Career Services. It provides readiness training followed by actual work experiences for students enrolled in the program. The grant will be used to fund stipends for students with disabilities who take part in summer jobs.

Twenty-eight high achieving minority students, mostly from Colorado, will be honored July 18 for completing an intensive, five-week math and science program at CU-Boulder designed to ready them for their freshman year at CU this fall.

The International and National Voluntary Service Training Program at the University of Colorado at Boulder will work with the city of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department on Saturday, July 19, to help clean up various sites around Boulder.

More than 40 American Indian high school students from around the nation will present a set of intriguing engineering and science proposals July 17 that they developed during a residential academic program at CU-Boulder this summer.

Barbara (Bobbi) Barrow has been named to the position of executive director of institutional relations at the University of Colorado at Boulder, pending approval by the CU Board of Regents, according to an announcement by Chancellor Richard L. Byyny. The executive director will be charged with responsibility for evaluating, reorganizing and streamlining the communications programs serving the campus, Byyny said, as well as for finding opportunities for consolidation that will lead to efficiency, continuity and cost containment.

Sixteen graduating law students at the University of Colorado at Boulder have been selected as members of the honorary Order of the Coif for high academic achievement throughout their law school careers. The students represent the top 10 percent of 1996-97 graduates from the CU School of Law. The law school graduated 167 students in May and recognized the top 15 percent of students from the December and May graduating classes at the May commencement. Students in the top 10 percent were selected in late June for the 1997 Order of the Coif.

High school students from the statewide program Youth in Natural Resources will participate in a variety of seminars and hands-on activities at the CU-Boulder Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory on July 16 from 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Hands-on lab experiments will expose students from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds to opportunities in natural resources, the importance of environmental issues and the benefits of higher education. Students will conduct experiments with ITLLÂ’s interactive exhibits on topics like fluid dynamics, chaos theory and weather.

A memorial service for Walter S. “Wally” Collins, professor emeritus of music and a former associate dean of the College of Music at the University of Colorado at Boulder, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, in Grusin Music Hall. A reception in the new student lounge will follow the service. Collins died June 30 of a brain aneurysm in Hyannis Port, Mass., while vacationing in Cape Cod. He was 71.

Twenty-three cases stemming from the May 3-5 University Hill riots have been or are being reviewed by the Office of Judicial Affairs at the University of Colorado at Boulder, according to Andrea Goldblum, director of judicial affairs. As of July 1, the Judicial Affairs Office reported the status of the 23 cases as follows: • Four suspensions, each for one year, which do not remain permanently on the students’ records • One expulsion, which remains a permanent part of the student’s record
