The University of Colorado Boulder will offer an intensive certificate course in entrepreneurship, taught by MBA faculty and open to the public, Aug. 17-22.
The course will expose students to the principles of entrepreneurship -- including techniques of market analysis, networking and funding -- through class discussions. It also will provide real-world experience through mentorship with entrepreneurs and work on individual projects.
āThe program will give participants the actual tool sets they need to go out there and help themselves or help the company they work for,ā said Remy Arteaga, director of theĢżĢżat CU-Boulderās Leeds School of Business, which is organizing Ideas 2 Action.
For completing the course -- which is scheduled over five roughly 12-hour days -- participants will receive a certificate from the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship.
āA lot of people donāt have time for a 12-week accelerator experience or a multi-semester MBA program,ā said Arteaga. āSo for people for whom itās either this type of fast-paced workshop or nothing, Ideas 2 Action is a great option.ā
The cost of the course is $5,000 and several need-based scholarships -- from partial to full funding -- are available to applicants through the Deming Center.
āInitially, we looked into offering Ideas 2 Action specifically to veterans,ā said Arteaga. āIt could be hugely beneficial to them, but weāve opened the program to all after receiving feedback that thereās a need for the program among other groups as well. We could see it being useful to researchers with potential technologies to transfer to the commercial world, startup founders whoāve recently received angel or venture capital funding, humanitarians with entrepreneurial service ideas, professionals and others.ā
The only academic requirement to participate is a bachelorās degree or the equivalent experience.
For more information visitĢż. Prospective students must first apply atĢż. They then will receive follow-up details about applying for scholarship funding.
āThe fact that Ideas 2 Action is taught by MBA faculty is unique,ā said Arteaga. āWe wanted to make sure the program is of the same quality and ilk as our other courses at theĢż.ā
