Julia Merten (she/her)
Julia was born and raised in Denver, Colorado by two artists who warned her to never go into a creative field. Unfortunately, growing up as the youngest, most of her time was spent playing with a plethora of hand-me-down toys, play-doh, and paints. She is a multi-media creator studying Media Production with a minor in Technology, Arts, and Media. She has a passion for color, composition, and touchy-feely storytelling. In her free time, she hangs out at the local goat farm, designs and makes earrings, writes letters, and constantly tries her hand at new skills.

This film is an artistic investigation of the concept of 鈥渨hat would you tell your younger self about what you know now?鈥�. We speak about growth and traumatic experiences we wish we could have avoided. Instead of giving her younger self a letter, or cliche advice, graduating senior Julia will pack her younger self a suitcase for her future. Each individual item has a background story that will be told through collage animation and stop motion. The emotional journey will be one of exploration, humor, light heartedness, and relatability. This will all lead up to the fact that, while she could give all of these items to her former self, she might not understand their purpose. Ultimately, the audience will uncover that preparing for the future is silly, as humans truly add to their 鈥榮uitcases鈥� as they go.
