Course Content

You will learn how the early Internet was viewed not only as a disruptive force to communications services but to government regulation of information services as well, raising the important question of what justifications should be provided in support of policies designed to regulate Internet services.Ìý

By the end of this week, you will be able to explain the goals and obejctives of the U.S. National Broadband Plan and the efficacy of national broadband plans on a global basis. You'll develop knowledge of the universal service programs used in the U.S. to support increased availability of broadband services, and you'll gain greater understanding of a variety of technical, economic and regulatory approaches to explanding Internet access.

This module is a case study focused upon often-controversial net neutrality regulations intended to manage fair access to Internet networks. You will also be able to deepen your understanding of the interdisciplinary policy framework by developing and analyzing policy positions pursued in the new net neutrality rules.Ìý

Duration: 3h

You will complete a peer reviewed final project worth 20% of your grade. You must attempt the final in order to earn a grade in the course.
