Residence Hall Meal Plans

All students living in the residence halls are required to hold a meal plan. These plans include a set number of meal swipes per week (students may choose between 15 and 19) plus a balance of Munch Money. Meal swipes are good at any campus dining center and grab-and-go location as well as some restaurants. These meal plans are being built into the residence hall , and the cost is the same for each plan. Meal plans include meals for both types of housing contract - Academic Year and Break Housing. Meals are served during fall and spring semesters but are not served during fall, winter or spring breaks.

Dietary accommodations can be made for documented medical and disability-related needs. To learn more and request accommodation visit the Housing and Dining Accommodations page.

Students will choose their meal plan in the housing application. Meal plans can be changed without penalty according to the dates below by emailing sa-billing@colorado.edu (changes can be made outside of these dates with a $50 fee):

  • Fall semester: Start of term until Sept. 18, 2024
  • Spring semester: Start of term until Feb. 13, 2025

Tuition and fees are just one part of the overall cost to attend CU Boulder. The full cost of attendance for an academic year could include expenses such as on-campus housing and food, books and supplies, and items that are not billed by the university, such as personal expenses, transportation and medical insurance. Munch Money

Munch Money is an integral part of the Residence Hall Student Meal Plan that allows students more flexibility in their dining options.

  • Munch Money is a declining balance stored on students’ Buff OneCard that renews each semester
    • Unused Munch Money at the end of each semester does not roll forward to the next term and is not refundable
  • Munch Money can be used in the cafes and retail outlets
  • If using Munch Money to buy a meal, the price is $8.15
  • If a student uses their Munch Money for the semester, additional funds can be added to their Buff OneCard in the form of Campus Cash
