The author of&nbsp;<em>My Share of the Task</em>,&nbsp;<em>Team of Teams</em>, and&nbsp;<em>Leaders</em>, he is currently a senior fellow at Yale University's Jackson Institute for Global Affairs and the cofounder of the McChrystal Group, a leadership consulting firm.</p> <p><strong>Anna Butrico </strong>graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in English after spending time at University of Oxford, St. Anne’s College. She joined McChrystal Group in 2018, where she has advised Fortune 100 companies and served as General (Ret.) Stan McChrystal’s speechwriter. Gen. William Mullen was commissioned via the NROTC program at Marquette University in 1986 and assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, where he served as a rifle and weapons platoon commander and battalion training officer from 1987 to 1990.</p> <p>From 1990 to 1993, he served as a platoon commander, executive officer and commanding officer of the Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team Company, was deployed to Operation Desert Shield and participated in several counternarcotics missions in support of Joint Task Force Six. He also served as the battalion training officer for a portion of this tour.</p> <p>In 1993, Mullen was transferred to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines (later redesignated to 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines), as the commanding officer of Fox Company. He participated in Operation Sea Signal in 1994, and was deployed with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit from 1995 to 1996 as the small boat raid and cliff assault company commander and participated in operations ashore in the former Yugoslavia. From 1996 to 1999, he served as the inspector-instructor for Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines, and led a successful counternarcotics mission in the Los Padres National Forest of California.</p> <p>In 1999, Mullen was selected to be the Marine aide to the president and served in that capacity until attending the School of Advanced Warfighting in 2001. After school, he reported to the Joint Operations Division of the Joint Staff, J-3, for duty in the PACOM and CENTCOM sections, and served as executive assistant to the deputy director for regional operations until 2004.</p> <p>In 2004, Mullen reported to 2nd Marine Division for duty as the division plans officer and was chosen later that year to be the operations officer for Regimental Combat Team 8, with whom he deployed to Fallujah, Iraq, from 2005 to 2006. After returning, he assumed command of 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines and returned to Fallujah for most of 2007. Following command he attended the Naval War College from 2008 to 2009, and then commanded the Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group from 2009 to 2012.</p> <p>After selection to brigadier general in 2012, Mullen was assigned as the commanding general, Education Command, and president, Marine Corps University. In 2013, he was assigned as the director of Capabilities Development Directorate, Combat Development and Integration, then in 2015 he served as the director of Operations and Target Engagement Authority in the Combined Joint Operations Center in Baghdad until June 2016. In July 2016, he assumed command of Marine Corps Air Ground Task Force Training Command, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, and was promoted to major general in July 2017. In June 2018, he assumed command of Training and Education Command.</p> <p>Mullen retired from the USMC in October of 2020.</p> <p>Mullen holds a BA and MA in political science from Marquette University, and an MA in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College. He is a graduate of the Advanced Artillery Officer Course, School of Advanced Warfighting, Airborne, Ranger, Summer Mountain Leader and Royal Marine Arctic Warfare Survival courses. Mullen co-wrote the book Fallujah Redux, which came out in 2014. All proceeds from the book go to the Semper Fi Fund. She has commanded several critical incidents ensuring life safety priorities were at the forefront.</p> <p>She holds a master's degree in psychology and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. She has successfully completed the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, the Senior Management Institute for Police course, and the FBI National Academy.</p> <p>Doreen believes building and maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders is critical in law enforcement, while ensuring fair and impartial policing. Maes has twenty-five years of experience in the non-profit sector, k-12, and in higher education. She has developed, implemented, and evaluated innovative curricula, experiential educational initiatives and trainings that focus on multiculturalism, inclusivity, gender bias, and culturally competent teaching methods for audiences ranging from k-12 and university students, nonprofit and business executives, and school administrators.</p> <p>Dr. Maes is a graduate of two of the nation’s leading leadership development institutes- Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government Executive Leadership Program and the Center for Creative Leadership Executive Leadership Program. Both institutes focus on leadership development, conflict resolution, interpersonal communication, strategic planning and the importance of collaborative decision-making processes.</p> <p>In addition to serving as an Independent Education Consultant, Dr. Maes serves as the Director of the Master of Arts in Higher Education Program at the University of Colorado Boulder’s School of Education. She is also Senior Instructor in the School’s Multicultural Leadership Scholars Program. She has developed and implemented curricula on topics including multicultural education, race/ethnicity/privilege, cultural competency, Ethnic Studies, multicultural leadership development, service learning, and social justice.&nbsp;</p> <p>Dr. Maes has co-authored a number of academic articles relating to issues of education inclusivity, transformational leadership, women in leadership, action research methods, and Latina academic achievement. Dr. Maes is co-editor of the book <em>Journeys of Social Justice: Women of Color Presidents in the Academy</em>&nbsp;(Peter Lang International Academic Publishers),&nbsp;released in 2017. During her time as a practicing attorney, she represented labor unions and served on the legal staff of a federal political appointee.</p> <p>Alexia originally joined Colorado Law as its Director for Government and Public Services Careers, a role she held for approximately 8 years serving as the office lead on public service career advising and building relationships with government and public interest employers. As a member of the CDO team, Alexia’s duties include counseling law students and alumni in all aspects of their career and professional development, designing and presenting programming in support of student professional development, managing the law school’s mentor program, and chairing the law school’s LRAP Committee. She has also served as the interim administrator of Colorado Law Leaders in Law and Community (LILAC) program which “addresses diversity in the broadest sense by recruiting and developing students from backgrounds underrepresented in law schools and in the legal profession. Volpone is an assistant professor in the Organizational Leadership division at the University of Colorado Boulder’s Leeds School of Business. She earned her Ph.D. in Human Resource Management from the Fox School of Business at Temple University.</p> <p>Dr. Volpone’s research focuses on diversity management and identity management in organizations. Specifically, she uses both qualitative and quantitative methods to understand how organizations manage their diverse workforces and how diverse individuals flourish through the management of their identities at work. This work focuses on examining the workplace experiences of traditionally under-represented employees, as she has work published in the context of race, gender, disability, sexual orientation and immigrant status.</p> <p>Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as the&nbsp;<em>Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology</em>,<em>&nbsp;Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Personnel Psychology,&nbsp;</em>among others. This work has been featured by CNN Business, CNBC, U.S. News and World Report, The Boston Globe, and has received international press coverage through the Toronto Star, ABC News Australia, and the London School of Economics<em>.</em>&nbsp;She presents her research at professional conferences, including the Academy of Management (AOM), the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), and the American Psychological Association (APA).</p> <p>Her recent research has been funded nationally by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and the Management Education Research Institute and internationally by universities in Australia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Further, Sabrina has been a part of multiple consulting teams for organizations such as ExxonMobil and Saudi Aramco that maintain a presence atop the&nbsp;<em>Fortune</em>&nbsp;500 and&nbsp;<em>Fortune</em>&nbsp;Global 500 lists. In 2009, she completed her Executive MBA at the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business.</p> <p>Katie has served extensively in the community on both local and national boards, and is widely regarded as a national expert in scholarship selection processes. She and her husband, Jay, launched Peak to Peak Leadership to empower the next generation of values-based leaders.</p> <p>Christy was CEO of the ATEK Companies from 2001-2011, a privately-owned management company, that owned and ran various outsource and product-based companies. Employing over 700 people, ATEK Companies had six manufacturing facilities with revenues exceeding $140 million. Their anchor company, ATEK Medical, was purchased from Medtronic’s Cardiac Surgery business in 2003. Orris and her team developed ATEK Medical into one of the leading finished medical device outsource suppliers in the world. ATEK Medical and its sister company, ATEK Plastics, were sold to KRG Capital in 2011. Before ATEK, Christy was President of Regent Aviation, worked in operations at Baxter Healthcare and in brand management at General Mills. She received her MBA from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth and BS at the University of Colorado at Boulder.</p> <p>Christy is active at the University of Colorado, serving on the Center for Leadership &amp; Leeds School of Business advisory board. She spends her time bringing values-based leadership programing to 600+ middle school, high school and CU students annually and recently introduced YPO-style forums to 80 incoming female freshman. From 2008-2011, Christy chaired the board of University of Colorado, Leed’s School of Business and continues to serve on the board. She was awarded the Alumni Service Award at the University and frequently speaks on campus and mentors students.
