Education Abroad

As part of the Office of Undergraduate Education, Education Abroad serves over 2,000 CU Boulder students annually. Established in 1960, Education Abroad today offers 400 programs in 65 countries and on seven continents (yes, even Antarctica!) including faculty-led, internships, research, and field study programs in more than 60 countries around the world. Students receive in-residence credit and can use their federal, state, and institutional financial aid to help pay for any approved CU Boulder Education Abroad program. The  provides students with advising, pre-departure support, scholarships, health and safety oversight, and support while abroad.

Education Abroad offers a wide variety of program formats. All Education Abroad programs, whether it be a short faculty-led course or an Academic Year at a foreign university, are an unmatched way for CU students to experience new cultures, languages, people and places. Students develop leadership skills through sharpening critical thinking skills, improving adaptability, and gaining confidence navigating new situations.

, one option out of the many offered through CU, are typically three to six weeks in the summer, comprised of CU students, and led by expert CU Boulder faculty members. An important aspect of Global Seminars is how they take a hands-on approach to the coursework that engages students with the culture of their host city and country—including those involving leadership. Topics directly engaging with leadership include , , and both and in Washington, D.C.

Another opportunity offered through Education Abroad where students can hone their leadership and independence are . Internships abroad provide students the opportunity to combine experiential learning and academic theory to gain professional experience and develop a new perspective on their desired career field. Students experience what it's like to navigate work culture in their host country and have the chance to expand their international network-- all while earning academic credit.
