Meet the class of 2025’s Tad Elliott!Ìý

Why did you choose to pursue a J.D.?ÌýÌý

TE: I chose to pursue a J.D. because I wanted to learn how to be an advocate for others, with the ability to follow through.Ìý My best friend, Kris Freeman, is a four-time Olympian and a type one diabetic. He lost his health insurance while competing and it was difficult for him to find a policy that would cover his preexisting condition. His health insurance cost four times what a normal person would pay, and if he wanted to keep using his current insulin delivery system his policy was going to cost eight times the normal amount. This did not seem fair, and it motivated me to apply to law school and gain the ability to represent others and make a difference in their lives. Ìý

What has been your favorite part of law school so far?ÌýÌý

TE: Meeting and getting to know the other students have been my favorite part of law school. Everyone is incredibly talented, bright, and kind. It is humbling. Our class is supportive, and students are always willing to help each other out with studying and understanding the material.ÌýÌýÌý

What is your proudest accomplishment?Ìý

TE: I am proud of my career as an athlete. I was on the United States Ski Team and the USA Cycling National Team. I am a seven-time national champion. A huge highlight was anchoring the USA Relay team in two World Championships. When I retired, I was elected by the athletes to represent their interest on the Executive Committee of the United States Ski and Snowboard Association.ÌýÌý

What do you hope to do with your degree once you graduate?ÌýÌý

TE: I hope to be a talent agent and help protect and advocate for athletes, and artists in sports and entertainment.ÌýÌý

What are some opportunities you have taken advantage of here at Colorado Law?ÌýÌýÌý

TE: I competed in the transactional competition with a friend I made at law school and went to Symposiums that University of Colorado hosts at Wolf Law.Ìý

What are some of your hobbies outside of work/school?ÌýÌý

TE: In my free time I like to read, mountain bike, ski, watch Jeopardy, and learn with friends.ÌýÌýÌý
