Caleb has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Purdue University, and a PhD in Environmental Engineering at CU Boulder (2021). His interests and future aspirations lie at the interface of research, practical action and policy regarding professionalized rural water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services in low-income contexts. He was co-advised by both Dr. Karl Linden and Dr. Amy Javernick-Will. His doctoral thesis research was part of the USAID Sustainable WASH Systems Learning Partnership, helping coordinate the research theme on preventive maintenance across Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia. He investigated institutional and environmental conditions which enable or hinder rural water utilities across contexts in sub-Saharan Africa, in an effort to identify pathways leading to successful, sustainably maintained water infrastructure. He spent over 9 months working alongside organizations who provide rural water services in Uganda. Caleb also worked for NGO Water for People for 1.5 years in both Denver, Colorado, and in Uganda.Â
