The frontiers of metabolomics & proteomics are finally merging with isotope ratio mass spectrometry, opening exciting new opportunities in our understanding of biological systems. My lab helps pioneer related novel molecular isotopic measurements based on soft-ionization mass spectrometry. These advances can be used to study natural isotopic signatures in metabolites, drugs, or small inorganic ions for a broad range of applications in environmental sciences and life sciences. To achieve our longterm goal of making intramolecular isotope patterns universally useful, we combineÌýexpertise in metabolomics and proteomics with concepts of high precision stable isotope analysis from geochemistry.Ìý
