Hugo servers as the Recruitment and Diverse Scholars Program Coordinator at Environmental Design. As the recruiter, he collaborates with ENVD’s advising team, CU Boulder’s Admissions team and with local high schools to inform students of the opportunities available for them in a career in environmental design in the fields of environmental product design, architecture, landscape architecture and sustainable planning & urban design.

As the coordinator for Diverse Scholars, he oversees a scholarship program for students from historically underrepresented backgrounds. He supervises the student board leadership team for the scholarship program and collaborates with other CU student organizations, professional organization, and with ENVD undergraduate education & student success team to help create a supportive environment and host programming for ENVD's Diverse Scholars to help create connections & career prep with peers, staff and Faculty. 

Prior to CU Boulder, Hugo comes from the city of Phoenix where he worked for over 10 years in grassroots organizing and community building. Hugo received his Associates from Phoenix College in Computer Information Systems. He also has experience in IT, with over 8 years ranging from entry level tech to System Engineer for a High School District. His passion has always been education and supporting student development and growth beyond education.
