Last winter听Louisa Stark听(PhDEPOBio鈥�92) received the 2010 Governor鈥檚 Medal for Science and Technology from Utah鈥檚 governor Gary Herbert. The award recognized her leadership as director of the Genetic Science Learning Center at the University of Utah.

Twins Emerson and Atticus Walsh were born to parents Kerri and听Matthew Walsh听(Film鈥�92) last spring. Matthew writes that the babies received their first CU gear, matching Buff wool hats, when they were three months old. The family is a Pac-12 family as Kerri graduated from the University of Southern California. They live in Glendale, Calif.

Navigation Group Wealth Management and Planning co-founder听Erik Davis听(Fin鈥�92) is proud to have his firm named by the听San Francisco Business Times听as one of the 鈥淭op Wealth Advisors of the Greater Bay Area.鈥� Erik and his wife also welcomed their first child, Dresden Robert Davis, on Sept. 20, 2011. As a major in the Army Reserve听George Brauchler Jr.听(Econ, PolSci鈥�92, Law鈥�95) was originally commissioned after finishing CU鈥檚 ROTC program. He writes he is helping wrap up the war in Iraq and was deployed as the chief of military justice for U.S. Division-North, which covers 84,000 square miles of Iraq. He lives in Littleton, Colo., with his wife and four children.

She is a partner at Park & Anderson, specializing in civil litigation involving liability, civil rights, personal injury and employment litigation. She previously worked as a counselor for adolescents and their families.

Forensic scientist听Peter Stout听(EPOBio鈥�92, PhD鈥�99) has been appointed to serve a four-year term on the North Carolina Forensic Science Advisory Board. The board advises the lab director and staff at the North Carolina State Crime Laboratory on ways they can strengthen the state forensic laboratory system to solve crimes and provide improved service to the criminal justice system. Peter has 15 years of experience in forensic urine drug testing, postmortem toxicology and human performance testing laboratories.

CU-Boulder Alumni Association board member听Katy Burley听(Psych鈥�92) won the prestigious Colorado Tourism Office Governor鈥檚 Award for Best Tourism Marketing Campaign for her work with the City of Golden鈥檚 鈥�2HourVacation.鈥� She moved from Denver to Washington, D.C., last spring to expand her career horizons.

The Bella Frida store, founded by听Laura Lambrecht听(Mus鈥�92), opened its doors on Main Street in Louisville, Colo., in March. Bella Frida strictly features Mexican clothing and folk art. Her inventory comes from a few regions in the country, including Oaxaca and Chiapas. She lives in Louisville with her family.

Director of institutional research for Northwest Indian College in Bellingham, Wash.,听Dorothy Aguilera-Black Bear听(Comm鈥�92, MEdu鈥�95, EdD鈥�03) has more than 20 years of research and evaluation experience with communities and schools, both domestic and international, and has explored the field of native wellness and leadership.

At the first annual Brilliance Awards architectural lighting design recognition ceremony听Gregg Mackell听(ArchEngr鈥�92) received a merit award in the residential category for his work with 186 Lighting Design Group for the Rocky Mountain Remodel and the Union Station Loft. Gregg lives in Golden, Colo.

Journalist and author听Mindy Reaves Sink听(Jour鈥�92) has written three books that celebrate Colorado:Walking Denver听(Wilderness Press), a collection of 30 original urban walking tours in the city;听Moon Handbooks Guide to Denver听(Avalon Travel), a complete guide to the Mile High City; and听Colorado Organic听(Jennifer Olson Photography), a cookbook that celebrates local chefs and farmers. Professor听Phillip DeLeon听(MElEngr鈥�92, PhD鈥�95) received the John and Tome Nakayama endowed Professorship for Teaching Excellence award in the engineering college at New Mexico State University. Phillip has been a professor there since 1996 and teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in signal processing, embedded systems and machine learning. He lives in Las Cruces, N.M.

Here Lies Hugh Glass, a novel听by听Jon Coleman听(Hist鈥�92, MA鈥�97), is 鈥渁 vigorously written meditation on 19th-century America鈥檚 encounter with the wilderness,鈥� according to听The Wall Street Journal.听Jon is an American history professor at the University of Notre Dame. He also wrote听Vicious: Wolves and Men in America, which won the W. Turrentine Jackson Prize and the John H. Dunning Prize. Jon lives in South Bend, Ind.

Albuquerque, N.M., resident听Erika E. Anderson听(Psych鈥�92) was named president of the State Bar of New Mexico鈥檚 board of bar commissioners. She is a civil litigation attorney at French & Associates, chair of the American Bar Association Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section trial techniques committee, as well as former president of the New Mexico Women鈥檚 Bar Association and the state鈥檚 first Judicial District.

Even though听Kristen Balsley Loos听(IntlBus鈥�92) lives in Carson City, Nev., she visits Boulder where her family still lives. No surprise then that Kristen brought a branch of her Carson City-based, women-only fitness franchise Kaia FIT to Boulder last year and opened another in Lafayette, Colo.

Since听Joel Parker听(MAstro鈥�89, PhD鈥�92) joined the Southwest Research Institute in 1996, he has consistently climbed the career ladder. Today, Joel, who lives in Boulder, serves as director of Boulder operations in the Planetary Science Directorate of the institute鈥檚 space studies department.

One would think that three kids and a horse training business might be enough to keep听Jill Kunz Pelzel听(PerMgmt鈥�92) busy. 鈥淥n the side鈥� she serves as vice president of the Colorado Hunter Jumper Association and coaches CU鈥檚 nationally ranked equestrian team. In the aftermath of last year鈥檚 devastating floods, Jill also ran a food and supply drive for pets and livestock affected by the flood. She lives in Fort Lupton, Colo.

As the principal and managing partner with Baker, McEvoy, Morrisey & Moskovits in New York,听Colin Morrissey听(Engl, Phil鈥�92) handles a lot of cases with cab drivers in personal injury civil suits. He advises Buffs to look twice before crossing the road when visiting New York and to wear their seatbelts. His wife,听Amy Eisenberg-Morrissey(Comm鈥�92), is a full-time mom to their two daughters, Julia and Layla. The family lives in Long Island, N.Y.

Freelance adventure and travel writer听Avery Stonich听(EnvCon鈥�92) has traveled to more than 40 countries, but Boulder remains a favorite place. She has lived in the city for 26 years and wrote a story for National Geographic Travel describing her favorite aspects of it.

With more than 20 years of experience in structural design, construction, phase services and project management,听Allen Thompson听(ArchEngr鈥�92) was appointed vice president of the construction support services practice at Thornton Tomasetti, an international engineering firm. Allen will work in the company鈥檚 Denver office.
