Vera (she/her) was accepted as a PhD student at University of Colorado in the program Rhetoric and Culture. She holds a B.A. and Licentiate Degrees in Social Work and a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Costa Rica. She received her Master's degree in Discourse Studies: Society, Communication and Learning from the Pompeu Fabra University and the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

Her research interests have centered around discourse, critical discourse, power, biopolitics, linguistic landscape, and social vulnerability. As a PhD student Vera aims to deepen her comprehension on how the use of language, within a cultural and rhetorical realm, can create room for needed discussions that contribute to personal and social development. She is passionate about studying society through a critical lens.
