The Dwyer Translation Prize is made possible by CU Classics alumnus Matthew Burke Dwyer (BA 1990), in support of excellence in the study of Latin and Greek at the undergraduate level. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado Boulder, Matthew Dwyer went on to serve as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Comoros, where he began what turned out to be his life-long teaching career. Dwyer subsequently earned an MA in Education from Teachers College at Columbia University and has taught at high schools in New York City, Istanbul and, since 2006, Luxembourg. He currently teaches English, Social Studies and Theory of Knowledge at the International School of Luxembourg. His wife, Yvonne, is also a teacher, and his son Quinn will graduate from ISL in 2025.
