Alan S. Kahan听is the visiting scholar in conservative thought and policy for the 2021-22 academic year and host of the "Capitalism and Ethics" series.听Kahan, a historian, political theorist and author, is professor of British Civilization at the Universit茅 de Paris-Saclay.听Kahan is the author of听听(Oxford, 1992);听;听听Palgrave, 2003);听听(Transaction, 2010, Routledge 2017); and听听(Oxford, 2015).听He is also the translator of听Alexis de Tocqueville, The Old Regime and the Revolution听(Chicago, 2 vols. 1998, 2001) and Benjamin Constant鈥檚听Commentary on Filangieri's Works听(Liberty Fund, 2015).听He is currently working on听Liberalism 鈥� An Incomplete History, which will be published by Princeton University Press.听Kahan has lived in France since 2007.
