  1. Call to Order

  1. Roll Call

Present: Anuja, Teagan, Apoorva, August, Jemil, Bailey, Allie, Taylor, Josh, Cole, Maya, Inji, Aneesh, Sydney, Ornella

Absent: Crisol

  1. Open Hearing

  1. Approval of the Minutes

  1. Approval of the Agenda

  1. New Business

    1. We are in Hellems 181 next week for our final meeting!

      1. We will be having Illegal Pete’s for dinner :)

      2. Bring board games, cards, a speaker for music, etc.!

    2. Hillel Probation

      1. After consulting with CSI, it seems like putting Hillel on probation for only one semester with CEB would seem counterintuitive as they really only hold one large event a year.

        1. They would be able to come to us for funding in the spring, which is when they always do their events.

        2. They may realistically be able to hold an event like Israel Fest without CEB’s aid.

        3. CEB’s current Bylaws also say “one academic year…” so we’re essentially undoing an exemption.

          1. Motion to put “CU Boulder Hillel” on CEB probation for one academic year

          2. 14 - 0 - 0

    3. Election Process

      1. Order follows that seen below

      2. You need to be nominated to run (you can nominate yourself)

      3. You can run for multiple positions

    4. Elections

      1. Chair

        1. Teagan

          1. What do you think CEB has struggled with?

            1. Communication. Sometimes the lines around who needs to do what get blurred and it can lead to confusion or things not getting done when they should have. Also creating a timeline for ourselves so we hold ourselves accountable. Checking in with everyone to make sure that everyone feels included and welcome.

          2. Chair can sometimes get very stressful. When chairs get stressed everyone is affected. What will you do?

            1. Drafting things when your stressed and letting it mellow out before hitting send or talking to someone

          3. Sometimes there are misunderstandings regarding duties in the exec board. What will you do to prevent/address that.

            1. Lay out duties clearly. Be willing to meet with individuals and mediate an outcome that eliminates conflict.

          4. What do you want your legacy to be?

            1. Repairing relationships with orgs and other boards. Striving to create a better community on campus.

          5. If there was a party with two CEB parties, one of which you have a relationship with, how would you go about approaching it?

            1. Try and approach it from as objective as a mindset as possible. Also take the time necessary to properly deal with the issues at hand. Help them resolve the conflicts themselves.

          6. How will you approach the CCP?

            1. Start the process earlier so that we have time to create a meaningful event. Let people take it in directions if it feels like the board agrees with their vision.

          7. What are two or three things that you’ll take from SOC?

            1. The organizational aspect of it. Staying on top of timelines etc. Communication with CSI and orgs to try and streamline things.

          8. How will you go about alleviating some of the preconceived notions that people have regarding what it takes to be a CEB member?

            1. Work closely with SMC and SOC to show what CEB is actually like.

          9. What has been your favorite thing about CEB so far?

            1. Probably the connections with members. Also, the experience that you get with working with other orgs.

          10. Yay!

      2. Marketing Coordinator

        1. Allie

          1. What would expanding our impacts beyond funding look like?

            1. Culture is much more than just ethnic or racial culture. Expanding the definition culture will help us impact more than just minorities at CU (Ex: Fast Fashion)

          2. Do you have any examples?

            1. More to do with current events

          3. What has been the hardest part of being MC? How will you go about facing this?

            1. There was a really big learning curve. Ended up running out of time of some projects. Now knowing most of the skills, it’ll be easier to approach things like merchandize and retreat.

          4. What was your biggest challenge as MC?

            1. Learning curve/lack of knowledge. Also learning about how the people at CU work.

          5. Let’s say that you get bad material to work with or just something that is shard to approach, how will you tackle this?

            1. Edit the photos/materials to make them easier to work with. Bring in board members as feedback givers.

          6. If you’re an item in a vending machine what would it be? Also what fruit? Fav cheese? Fav amphibian?

            1. S&V chips

          7. Back to your point on too many cooks spoiling the broth, what if you had to work with someone else for the exact same role?

            1. Either vote on it or it could just go to the bigger board/larger sponsor.

          8. What about CEB/DSB?

            1. There was a lack of communication, so bringing in a mediating party would help.

          9. How will you personally process constructive criticism that you don’t agree with?

            1. Usually pretty open to design feedback. If the consensus is that something should change, then it should change. Talk things out.

      3. Speakers Coordinator

        1. Cole

          1. QNA portion at events are very stressful environments, how will you help make them less stressful?

            1. Work closely with moderators so that they know what is going on and know the person well. Making sure that all the tech is working well. Generally, being proactive and preparing for the worst while hoping for the best.

          2. How would you approach a situation where you have someone you want but the board wants someone else?

            1. Would fight his case, but would ultimately make sure that it was a common decision that the board could get behind. In the end democracy wins.

          3. What have you learned from Maya that you will bring to the position

            1. A lot of technical advice. She is also very passionate about the stuff she does. Being a passionate SC makes sure that the board also is passionate about the speaker

          4. Let’s say you really disagree with something that the MC decides?

            1. Having a sit down. Making sure that there is clear and open communication.

          5. People A, B, and C all have the same votes on a form, how will you decide who we bring?

            1. Runoffs and making an executive decision.

          6. What will help you make your decision?

            1. It’s about who CU boulder needs to see or hear.

          7. What is something you struggled with the most, and how will you avoid that?

            1. The amount of different people that you have to communicate with. You have to juggle around a lot of opinions and requests. Just make sure you stay focused and organized.

          8. You will be having a lot of incoming communication from a lot of different people and channels when it comes close to an event’s date, how will you manage?

            1. Listing priorities and making a cohesive agenda to keep yourself organized and on track. Closer to the date, reviewing this list to make sure things get done.

          9. Let’s say you have an event coming up but the speaker pulls out of doing the event, what do?!?

            1. Coming to the board and coming up with a reasonable solution to trying to still have an event.

          10. Let’s say there is tension between you and the ASC, what do?!?

            1. It is vital to have streamlined communication and collaboration between the two positions

        2. August

          1. Relationship between SC and ASC is very important, how will you handle tension/conflict?

            1. Tension and conflict are based in miscommunication, if you can ensure streamlined and open communication, you should be able to alleviate conflict.

          2. People A, B, and C all have the same votes on a form, how will you decide who we bring?

            1. That gets into some stuff that I’m not too familiar with yet, but we could base it off of what events would be topical to what is happening at CU.

          3. Part of being SC is time and stress management, how will you ensure you remain functional and focused?

            1. Going into college and adding a level of professionalism to life has helped highlight the importance of timeliness and accountability. Has learned how much is possible to do, and what is too much.

          4. One thing CEB has done in the past is collaborate with groups/orgs that represent that identity. What are ways that you can work on bringing that back?

            1. Make himself more adept at knowing who is out there. A lot of the job is based on who you know, so building relationships with org leaders an

          5. What would you do if a speaker pulled out 1 week before an event?

            1. Switching gears quickly and being adaptable to what the board needs - really trying to figure out what the next best alternative is

        3. Cole - Congratulations!

          2. What are some things you’ve learnt from Teagan

            1. Be a good communicator. Better over communicate than under communicate

          3. How will you deal with issues with orgs

            1. Try and understand the situation at hand before taking any measures. Bring in a mediator.

          4. What would you do to ensure that CEB is open to all orgs even those that don’t agree with some of the board member’s views

            1. Remove her own opinion from that of the role.
