Professor John McCartney and his previous PhD student Majid Ghayoomi, now an assistant professor at the University of New Hampshire, received the 2014 International Award for Best Journal Paper by an Early Career Researcher in Unsaturated Soil Mechanics in the Category of 鈥淎pplication鈥� from the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) Technical Committee 106 on Unsaturated Soil Mechanics for their paper: Ghayoomi, M., McCartney, J.S. and Ko, H.-Y. (2013). 鈥淪ettlement Prediction of Unsaturated Sands during Earthquake Shaking.鈥�
