Luis E. P茅rez,鈥痺as originally born in Mexico. His family migrated to the U.S. when he was 13 years old. They settled in Longview Tx, where he resided for the last 20 years. His鈥痮il paintings鈥痑nd printmaking鈥痺ork鈥痜ocus on鈥痬oments of intimacy and spirituality鈥痑s鈥痺ell鈥痑s his鈥疢exican鈥痟eritage.听听
鈥淚n my work I explore the theme of intimacy and spirituality and their ephemerality. Through my paintings, I attempt to capture instances of intimate connections that can often be overlooked. These instances of connection are fascinating in that they are both unique and universal at the same time. The viewer may relate to their familiarity but also recognize that they happened to unique individuals at a singular time, evoking in them a sense of nostalgia and reflection leading to yet another unique moment of intimacy. This time between the viewer and the artwork.鈥澨�
