Andrea Garcia (artist name Andrea Garcia Vasquez) works with traditional and contemporary art-making methods to investigate human and non-human relationships. Her/their artistic process and research focuses on decolonial and feminist practices, the definition of nature, and loosening the violent grip white supremacy and patriarchal ideologies have on culture today. Andrea Garcia Vasquez received a BFA in Visual and Critical Studies from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 2014. Upon graduating, AGV was a recipient of a 6 month grant to live and work in Leipzig, Germany in 2015. In 2020 Andrea graduated from the Art Academy Leipzig (HGB) with a Diplom Degree and honorable distinction in “New Media: Installation and Space” with Prof. Joachim Blank. Since then her/their works have been in Solo and Group exhibitions throughout Germany, Lebanon, Korea, Japan, and the United States.
